James Plumlee currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma and works as a video journalist at the Tulsa World. After graduating from the University of Tulsa he strayed from the path laid out by his university experience to work as an Emergency Medical Technician before returning to documentary work.

In 2005 James made a short video documentary entitled "Biking in the Bible Belt". The short was accepted and shown in the New York based Bicycle Film Festival, Resfest (Korea), the Overground Film Festival, and won best local filmmaker during the Micro Film Festival.
